Shooting Manual … as In Manual FOCUS!

Ok – so since things are slow and I want to have a reason to be the crazy lady with a camera – I thought I would see if it was possible to shoot manual focus. I already shoot in manual mode – but I figured I would have a little fun and see if it was possible to chase a toddler around …handle manual settings, shoot wide open (1.4) shoot from the hip … and Shoot Manual Focus. .

Off to the park my girl and I went – I shot 400 images in 30 minutes.

I walked away with a handful of faves – here are just a few.PINTHIS

Flo Dupuy - You’ll have to share details on how to shoot from the hip. Would love to try that 🙂ReplyCancel

Renee - You are amazing! I am a new fan and follow your work now and love it. Very inspiring, especially since I am a mother to young children who are also a large part of my inspiration!

Would love to know what camera/lens you shot with. Love the bokeh in some which is clearly coming from the wide open aperture but interested in the lens. I shoot mainly on 50mm but know I need a few tricks in my pocket 🙂ReplyCancel

    admin - Thank you all!!

I shot these with my 50 mm – I love that lens for so many reasons. Shooting from the Hip comes from a tremendous amount of practice. It allows me the chance to interact with the child …But I realize – I also need to not feel like I need to entertain and take a step back and take in the scene. This is what I am working on this year.ReplyCancel

Susie Aranda - What do you mean when you say shooting from the hip? Literally from the hip? or securing your elbows at your hip? thank you :):)ReplyCancel
