Road Trip to California

If you are familiar with my blog – then you know that we are in Dallas – away from those we love, because of the financial strain of IVF. I count down the days to when I can be closer to family, living in a climate that isn’t stifling and even when it is outrageously hot  you have the beauty of the ocean to dive in to.  Every summer we head out to my husbands home on the East or back to my home on the West. I absolutely love this time with my family. The drive is filled with obnoxious singing, eating too much junk food, and deep conversations. The kids have become amazing Road Warriors with my husband leading the pack with his consumption of 5 hour energy shots as he powers through the first leg of 24 hour drive – determined not to let his wife take the wheel.  Apparently my driving is …. how would you say…. BAD.  I personally don’t think it is bad… I just think I am overly cautious. I white knuckle the steering wheel when driving next to  Semi-trucks paralyzed by fear that a gust of wind… or worse yet.. a sneeze .. would send me  crashing into the cement median that is boxing me in on the other side…. AND apparently driving the speed limit is considered slow these days.

It only took us a day and a half but we made it and immediately threw on our suits and headed to the beach. Not phased by the cloudy weather I was just appreciative to have my toes in the sand while watching my children splash in the ocean.
