I met Liz and Josh Week when we moved to Frisco, Tx. They were our neighbor sand soon became our friends. We both were pregnant together and when it was time for me to give birth to my Ms. Em – I allowed Liz to stay in my room and watch  the birth. 2 months later she gave birth to her first baby Hailey.   Eventually life through a curve ball and it tends to do – and they were soon moving to San Diego. When I made my plans to do my first photo shoot trip to California – LIz was so sweet and excited to get on my schedule – that she frantically changed her travel schedule back to Utah and stayed in town long enough for us to do a shoot. It was my first time meeting Scarlett – who was a beauty and a spitting image of her mama. We had a great time and I can’t wait to see them again!

Dana and I have been friends for such a long time. We went to high school together – but didn’t become good friends until our early 20′s.  Dana is by far one of the most confident, strong, amazing woman that I have in my life. She has told me for years to start my on photography business. .. again she had more confidence in me then I did in myself. When I started my business  and then it started taking off – I knew I owed it to this lifelong friend of mine – to face my fear of leaving my children, face my fear of flying  and go and  photograph her beautiful family.  What a gift her friendship is in my life – and I love that I was able to do this for her…OK –  onto the day of the shoot. .. I arrive at Dana’s house before our shoot so that she can show me the location that she has picked out.  As we arrive at the location, the panic starts to set in….. there isn’t an ounce of shade… and to top it off it is drier then Sahara…ok..quick… lets go check out the  beach she wanted to shoot at…… YIKES – even worse…..a rocky beach with no shade… We quickly drive to a couple of other locations … come to find out  - Cardiff  - while beautiful – doesn’t offer alot of shade…. anwhere. I take a deep breath and  believe in  L.L.P and  decide to head to the first location. There was alot to contend with during this shoot – but in the end -I love what I captured and I realized that I need to just  believe in myself the way that she did so many years ago.

While I was in California – I had the opportunity to meet up with an old friend from high school. Jenn and I used to tear it up back in the day  - stirring up more trouble then I would like to remember. …actually I probably don’t remember  1/2 the trouble  - which is probably a good thing. What a treat to get together  so many years later and meet her gorgeous son Luca. As she got out of the car – she warned me that he was shy…although, I saw anything but shyness! With these beautiful brown eyes and bright smile , we hung out and talked about life… actually we talked about Thomas the train – which in his world is his life. Thanks Jenn for hiring me to capture moments of your beautiful boy. Hope to see you on my next trip out west!

With every photo shoot- I try and come up with something to set it apart from the other shoots. What I have come to realize is that some of the best props end up being something that I can not buy – To me a photo isn’t about being a perfect pose, perfect location, perfect outfit. or that perfect prop. It is how the photo  makes  you feel. If you have a shoot booked with me – don’t forget to let your child bring their favorite toy. Down the road – that Is what you want to be reminded of when you look back on your photos…that bear, that blankey that your child could not live without.

When Ashley called me to book her shoot – I just had this feeling like we were meant to be friends. I felt like we had known each other for years. On the day of our shoot – I have to admit… I was a bit nervous. I was heading to a location I had never been too before and I  ALWAYS scout out locations before a shoot….. and there was a storm that was scheduled to hit Frisco – smack dab in the middle of our shoot. We started out the shoot running a little late and when we started in the first location the clouds covered the sky (which meant my ISO had to be bumped up – NEVER a good thing in photography world). I looked at Ashley and said we have to move to a different location. Once we moved to the location – the clouds seemed to have disappeared. .. and magic happened. I need to have more faith and let go of the nerves. I can do this… I was meant to do this.

Ashley – your family is beautiful- filled with so much love, warmth and kindness. I look forward to bringing our families together for a BBQ in the near future.

As mentioned in the earlier post.. not quite a sneak peek since the mom came and picked up her images yesterday…. but it was the first in-session proofing I have held… and I have to say – I love it.  I was able to set a slide show to music and allow the mom to see all the images.

I loved the way this session turned out. Two beautiful boys being loved  by amazing parents. … and I was able to capture it all through my lens..Have I mentioned how much I love what I do.

Ok – so this should be a sneak peek – but come to find out I am a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to updating the blog.  I think it is because it is easier to post the sneak peek on Facebook. Especially as I am building my brand and getting my work out there, facebook has been my best friend. I have had faith that through word of mouth  L.L.P would continue to grow at a slow and steady pace. .. and that it has.

This is my second shoot with my dear and wonderful friend Jenny and this time she pulled in the whole clan. It was her in-laws 40th anniversary and she wanted to give them a photo shoot as a gift. Liz LaBianca Photography was their gift…pretty cool – right???  You could feel the love these parents had for the life  that they had been blessed with. Watching this couple who were surrounded by children and grandchildren – makes you realize what true success is.  Yes,  they are celebrating 40 years of marriage… but to me ..they are celebrating so much more.

Ok so back to the shoot… ten people….2 birdcages (don’t ask) and  me. Did I mention I had NO assistant… so  guess who filled in during the shoot?? JENNY! she worked as hard as I did rounding up the kids and posing. I am blessed that she moved into Shaddock Creek 2 years ago. Our friendship has grown so much over this past year. To have friends believe in you (even when I had so much to learn)… now those are the lifers.
